House Updates | Foyer, Hallway, Stairwell

My favorite part of the whole house is our entryway and stairwell.
At one point it's 20 feet from the floor to the ceiling!
So pretty.
Or it will be.

Time for some more before and during shots!

Gotta love the pee stained carpet.
(Don't worry, it's been pulled)

Great help from Alonzo and Torry!

I let Tyler brave the ladder and do the insulating up high.
Insulating this wall has made an enormous difference.
You used to be able to feel the wind blowing through the wall before.
Bleh.

House Updates | Bathroom

Life has been crazy lately.
I've wanted to write updates more frequently than I actually have, but, obviously, I have not.
So here they are!
The updates you've all been waiting for!
Well...maybe wondering about from time to time.
So, here they are!
Before and during photos of our upstairs bathroom.

Before

During.
We've had to remove the tile flooring because it had been installed incorrectly.
Well Tyler removed it, I took pictures!
Hey, I know my talents, and tile removal is not one of them.
The claw foot tub has been removed, we might sell it, we'll see, but it will be replaced with a walk in shower.
New vanities as well!
No more sharing.
Yay!
The homemade stained-glass window removed and replaced with a new one.
This new window is going to be frosted for privacy, but for now, enjoy the view!
Most everything is getting, or has been, torn out and waiting for replacements.

Also, second floor laundry room!
Woohoo!
Who has two thumbs and doesn't have to walk past demon crickets?
This girl!

Eeesh.
That'll give ya nightmares.

Some more 'during' photos as of March 2015!

Construction on the shower has begun!
We were a little bit nervous since we pretty much just designed this shower in our head and told the contractor what we wanted.
Turns out....we are are brilliant!
Everything is really coming together and we are loving it.

Hooray for bathroom vanities!

Bonus!

(For some reason there seems to be some concern as to whether or not we will be covering the exterior bathroom window. To answer these questions...yes. We will obviously be covering the window. Or at least charging the neighbors for the show.)

Repost from blitheblog | I Could Have a Baby but She Could Not

A dear friend posted a link to this article on Facebook last night.
When I read it, I wept.
I wept because I hurt whenever I read or hear anything about babies or pregnancy.
I wept because I am the friend that can't bear to hear the joy of another's pregnancy.
I wept because I don't want to be the infertile friend.
I wept because a woman who had never experienced infertility understood as much as one could.
And I wept because it was all so true.

To me, the power of this woman's post comes from the realization that infertility doesn't mean that we aren't happy for you, excited to meet your baby, or that we don't love your children.
It simply means that the joy of all those moments is soured with the constant reminder that we can't, and may never, experience any of it.

We love your children.
And we mourn ours.

“Don't be ashamed to weep; 'tis right to grieve. Tears are only water, and flowers, trees, and fruit cannot grow without water. But there must be sunlight also. A wounded heart will heal in time, and when it does, the memory and love of our lost ones is sealed inside to comfort us.”
